Our Colour
At Bimbo’s Hair, we use Lakmé professional colour – a brand built on sustainability and conscious beauty. Their ethos is simple: caring for our environment is a responsibility for the future.
Lakmé products are made with natural, organic ingredients that are vegan, cruelty-free and sustainable. Their colours are PPD and ammonia free and comply with Ecocert Greenlife natural and organic standards.
In production, Lakmé reduces energy use through cold processes, solar power, and water recycling systems such as CIP. Their commitment goes right down to the packaging, which is made from recycled or sustainably sourced materials and is 100% recyclable.
Our Haircare
We also work with Evo haircare, a brand on a mission to do better every day. Evo products are:
- Free from sulfates, parabens, DEA, TEA, propylene glycol and gluten.
- Vegan and cruelty-free (with the exception of a few products containing beeswax).
- Certified by PETA for not testing on animals.
Evo champions transparency – no gimmicks, no empty claims – just products that perform. They’re equally committed to sustainability, using recycled plastics, FSC-certified paper, and hardwood for brushes.
On a bigger scale, Evo:
- Offsets greenhouse gas emissions with carbon credits that fund reforestation projects.
- Uses solar power in operations and manufacturing.
- Donates obsolete stock to homeless shelters.
- Partners with Green Circle Salons to support a more sustainable haircare industry.

Our Salon
Bimbo’s Hair is proud to be part of the Green Salon Collective – the UK and Ireland’s leading voice in salon sustainability.
Through this initiative, we recycle the “unrecyclable”, from used colour tubes and foils to excess hair colour and even hair cuttings. Hair is transformed into hair booms (tubes packed with hair) that help clean up oil spills in rivers and oceans, protecting wildlife and coastlines.
Profits from recycled materials are donated to a range of charities, further extending the impact.
We also partner with Ellgia Recycling in Ely, ensuring our salon achieves 100% landfill avoidance – all waste is recycled, reused, composted, or turned into renewable energy.
Everyday Sustainability
Sustainability runs through everything we do in the salon this includes touches for your comfort too:
- Biodegradable towels made from natural fibres – hygienic, compostable, and water-saving (yes, you can even take yours home to reuse in the garden!).
- EcoHeads showerheads on all basins – reducing water and energy use by up to 65% while softening the water for a smoother finish.
- Even our toilet paper is eco-friendly – we stock Who Gives a Crap, who donate 50% of profits to build toilets globally.
- GRIND coffee – ethically sourced beans in compostable pods, roasted for you to enjoy in-salon.
- Butterworth & Son tea – a family business from Bury St Edmunds.
Supporting People & Community
We are proud supporters of The Little Princess Trust, donating hair over 7 inches long to provide real wigs for children and young people who’ve lost their hair through cancer treatment or illness.
Locally, we source and donate wherever possible, supporting the Bury St Edmunds community and keeping things close to home.
